Throughout the United States you will find a host of beach cities, spring break destinations and the typical vacation spots. The more active families, are beginning to seek spots that offer more outdoor adventure and exploring abilities, while keeping the comfort and amenities of a vacation. Here we will show a few of the United States most popular adventure vacation spots.
Probably the most obvious of these destinations is the Grand Canyon National Park, located in Arizona. This scenic spectacular is two hundred and seventy seven miles long, up to eighteen miles wide and over a mile deep. The Colorado River runs the length. This natural wonder offers a host of hiking, horseback riding and even donkey-back tours. The Grand Canyon Village offers a wide variety of restaurants from fast food to fine dining, shopping and historical information. For the more adventurous, white water rapid adventures and back country hiking are available. See the Granaries above Nankoweap, which are homes dug into the side of the canyons steep walls. These homes could have been occupied by any of the Native settlers, who’s remains have been found by archaeologists, that date up to twelve thousand years old. The Grand Canyon offers a host of history and culture, with a large dose of adventure.
The Glacier National Park in Montana, this next adventure destination in US travel. View the path of glaciers, and the few that still remain, dating back ten thousand years. The home of massive lakes and the Apgar Village, which offers lodging, dining and shopping. Visit the Glacier museum for a host of artifacts that date back to the first known human interaction with the area, nearly ten thousand years ago. It is home to over seventy known types of mammals including the gray wolf and wolverine. The site offers over seven hundred and forty miles of maintained hiking trails. Glacier National Park contains some of the most beautiful scenery on earth.
Denali, Alaska, home to the tallest mountain in the United States. Mount McKinley stands at a regal twenty thousand three hundred and twenty feet. Denali National Park and Preserve, was the first national park to provide wildlife protection in the very early 1900s. During the summer take one of the bus trips, these are the only vehicles allowed in the center of the park. During the winter the faint of heart need not apply, the winters are extreme. For those who enjoy temperatures of forty below zero Fahrenheit, with massive snows, then the winter is the perfect time for you. The summers can very from in the thirties to the seventies, and snow could fall at anytime during the year, but you wont find much more in the world in the way of beauty.
The next time you are looking for that slice of adventure, while vacationing in the United States, have a look at one of these destinations, you wont be disappointed.
I’ve always wanted to go fishing out in the sea of Alaska or sport fishing in the Florida Keys.
