It is time to start planning that vacation, you know you want to go somewhere in the United States, but not quite sure where? Here are some of the top vacations spots in the United States. Sit back and enjoy the view of what America has to offer.
On the west coast of the United States is where we will find our first destination. San Francisco, California. Known for it’s cultural uniqueness, San Francisco is pretty small, but packed with places to see and things to do, friendly to all age groups, and something for everyone. One of the most popular destinations in San Francisco is the Golden Gate Bridge, this is the most popular tourist attraction in the area and is free to visit. You should also take time to visit the famous Fisherman’s Wharf which has a little bit of everything, specifically caters to tourists. In particular on pier 45, the Musee Mecanique which houses hundreds of antique penny arcade music and amusement machines, from arm wrestling machines to fortune tellers and the world’s only steam powered motorcycle. Great for children, and provides an antiquities lesson to the young and old alike. Be sure to visit Alcatraz Island while in San Francisco, Alcatraz is a now closed federal prison that used to house the worst of the worst, and has been converted into a museum. Sign up for the tour and hear about the history of the prison, and some of the escape attempts. There are also fairly expensive midnight ghost tours, for the paranormal lovers.
Now we will travel to the opposite coast of the country. Washington D.C., home of the U.S. Capitol, vast monuments, many Shakespearean theaters and Smithsonian museums. The city is littered with markets, clubs and bars. Visit during the end of March and beginning of April and see the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Visit the National Mall, a tree lined avenue is surrounded with museums and the Nations Monuments, tour this expanse at night, to see the Nations Capitol by lamplight, truly remarkable.
For the nature lovers in all of us, Yellowstone Nation Park, in Wyoming, is a family friendly vacation. A vast expanse of canyons and hiking trails to the upper and lower falls are simply a sight to behold. This National park has various dining areas overlooking the rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. There is also a lodge and a visitors center. Visit the waterfalls for perfect photo opportunities and take in some of nature’s most wonderful creations.
Our last United States vacation destination is New Orleans. From the tours of the French Quarter to the Garden District, you will find a dose of culture like no other. The city boasts it’s famous cemeteries and the Backstreet Cultural Museum. The famous Bourbon Street that has a marvel of Voodoo related shops and history to the city’s infamous Mardi Gras festival. You will experience Cajun foods at it’s finest and some of most culturally influenced buildings and shops in the world.
