In today’s economically trying times, a vacation may definitely needed, but it also has to be affordable. Here we will describe the best choices for vacations in the United States that are also easier on the wallet.
The first on our list is Dallas-Fort Worth, located in Texas. It has been voted to be the best value destination for that much needed vacation. Dallas offers many great discounts on everything from hotel stays to entertainment. This beautiful city has plenty to do as well. The outdoor enthusiasts will find pleasure in the free hiking and bike trails that connect White Rock Lake and the White Rock Creek Park. Enjoy the beauty of Texas, and the best part, it is free. The family friendly Texas Wild exhibit at the Fort Worth Zoo has been nationally acclaimed and is priced between nine and twelve dollars a person. There are several museums in the area as well for the history and art fans, including the free African American museum and Fair Park’s Hall of State museum. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping to be had, all at reasonable prices.
Our next stop on the great American value vacation tour is Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta is a host of great deals on lodging and offers some of the largest cultural institutes in the country. This city is family friendly and offers The World of Coca-Cola Tour, which is free for children and up to fifteen dollars for adults. See the history of and where the Coca-Cola company tends to head. You can also pick up all your Coca-Cola merchandise and novelty items at the gift shop, which is relatively inexpensive as well. Take a tour of the CNN Studios, for eight to twelve dollars a person, you get to see how the CNN 24 hour news channel operates. Don’t forget to visit the site of the 1996 Olympics, at the Centennial Olympic Park, which is free for everyone.
Our next destination is Orlando, Florida. The theme park capital of the world. Orlando is known for it’s great hotel accommodations and rates. Take a trip to the World’s Most Famous Beach, Daytona Beach, great for families or just those who enjoy the beach and ocean views. The actual beach is free for everyone. While in Daytona take a tour of the Daytona Speedway, this is the home of the Daytona 500, a guided tour of the complex is available for just over twenty five dollars a person. Spend Saturday night at Old Town, in Kissimmee, just minutes from Orlando. There are car cruises and concerts, which are free, as well as a host of shops and stores, including a year round haunted house, plenty of restaurants that cater to every type of food. There is even a permanent fair with everything from roller coasters to cotton candy, which also boast the World’s Tallest Sky Coaster.
These locations are family friendly, and a great way to spend a vacation. Whether you want the history and art, or the theme parks and beaches, all can be found in the U.S. without spending a small fortune.
I’ve vacationed at each of these cities and I must say that Dallas was my favorite. There was so much to do and the people are wonderful.
